San Juanico Bridge

The longest bridge in the Philippines measuring 2.16 kilometers, the San Juanico Bridge spans the San Juanico Straight and connects Leyte to Samar.  Constructed in 1973, it remains an iconic structure in Eastern Visayas.

The Samar side of San Juanico Bridge

This bridge connects Tacloban City on the Leyte side to the town of Santa Rita in the Samar side.  There are several islets near the bridge.

Some of the 43 columns are constructed on the islets.

As one tourist commented: Are those real?

This beautiful steel structure is only about 15 minutes away from Tacloban City … a MUST tourist spot for all those who visit Leyte.  A “jump shot” in the bridge is one perfect photo-op that one must have – to remember Leyte for a long, long time. :)
