Ulun Danu Temple is located in Bedugul Village, Tabanan Regency, about 62 km from Denpasar City. This temple is one of Bali’s most visited and most spiritually important Balinese temple. In fact, there were many locals who were worshiping in the shrine at the time we were there.
This Temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, The Goddes of the Water and Bratan Lake. The Temple was founded in the 17th Century and is the focus of numerous ceremonies and pilgrimages to ensure water supply in the community. The temple sits on the shore of the lake and the design has the clasical Hindu thatched roof (multi roofed shrine) called Meru.
There are three other temples in this complex, aside from the major temple that is in the lake, which appears as if it is floating in water.
This is the penultimate temple that we visited in Bali. The last one is suppose to be the most popular temple … is it?
