. When one attends the Ati-atihan festival in Kalibo, you don’t just go there to watch. One actually experiences the merry-making firsthand. You are permitted to mingle with any of the groups participating in the parade. All your senses are bombarded with the cacophony of sounds, colors, rhythm … and yes, smell too! One foreign tourist describes it as an “inter-active” parade … because you become part of the parade.
. No one is ostracized in the Ati-atihan – come as you please. And here are some of the more colorful people I spotted this year.
