People Watching: Ati-atihan 2012

.          When one attends the Ati-atihan festival in Kalibo, you don’t just go there to watch.  One actually experiences the merry-making firsthand.  You are permitted to mingle with any of the groups participating in the parade.  All your senses are bombarded with the cacophony of sounds, colors, rhythm … and yes, smell too!  One foreign tourist describes it as an “inter-active” parade … because you become part of the parade.

It's a photographer's heaven!

.         No one is ostracized in the Ati-atihan – come as you please. And here are some of the more colorful people I spotted this year.

Hindi naman yata obvious na taga-Hawaii sila no?

His own Sto. Nino ... sleeping soundly despite the loud music.

Michael cannot even resist the music ...

Blowing bubbles just for fun!

Groovy drummer boy

Who let the cats out? Or are they zebras?

And what would the Ati-atihan be without those foreign tourists having a blast?

.          See you all again next year … come rain or shine! Hala Bira!
